The dam is important as its water is used for irrigation and other domestic uses. It lies in Uasin Gishu County, with a catchment area of 4300 acres. 6. Koromosho Falls
The Koromosho Falls, some 25 kilometres to the west of Eldoret, is where the River Sosiani plunges 70 metres from the flat fertile plateau over a granite escarpment. It is only the sound of the water that betrays the falls, hidden in a mass of rocks and trees. From the high rocks downstream, one can see a big cave behind the falling waters, where residents say some animals live.
The winding V-shaped valley cut by the Sosiani adds to the beauty of the scene. From the river bed, the valley rises on both sides some 120 metres and ends only 50 kilometres downstream after Ndalat Hills near Kapkaren. Mt. Elgon is the eighth-highest mountain in Africa. It borders Kenya and Uganda Cross-border tourism is allowed with prior planning and communication with the management of the park.
