Here is a step-by-step guide on how to check your Green Card Lottery Result in 2023. The long-awaited DV 2024 Lottery results were finally published this Saturday, May 6. The results published are for those who entered the Diversity Visa Lottery during the last Entry or Registration period, which ran from October 5, 2022, to November 8, 2022

The US Department of State typically announces the Green Card Lottery results in May of each year. Here is how to check your Green Card Lottery results for 2023.

How To Check For DV Lottery 2023 Results

1. Go to the official website of the DV Lottery: https://dvprogram.state.gov/
2. Click on the “Entrant Status Check” link.
3. Enter your Confirmation Number. This is the unique number that you received when you submitted your Green Card Lottery application. If you do not have your confirmation number, you can retrieve it by clicking on the “Forgot Confirmation Number” link and providing the necessary information.
4. Enter your Last/Family Name as it appears on your application.
5. Enter your Year of Birth.
6. Complete the Captcha code to prove that you are not a robot.
7. Click on the “Submit” button.

If you have been selected, you will be provided with further instructions on how to proceed with your application for a green card. If you have not been selected, you will receive a notification that your application was not chosen.

It’s important to note that the only way to check your Green Card Lottery results is through the official DV Lottery website. Be cautious of any other websites or individuals claiming to be able to check your results for you, as they may be scams. The U.S. government does not notify selected applicants by email, phone, or regular mail. The only way to check your status is by using the official DV lottery website mentioned above.

What to do after being selected for Green Card?

Once selected, please take your time and gather all the information you can. Once you spend the first few days or weeks learning about the process, then fill out your DS260. Ideally, before May ends. All those selected will be given a case number. That will start with 2023AF. If your case number is low, ensure you fill out your DS260 before the end of May and gather all documents as quickly as possible. Case numbers go from 1 to above 60k. After winning, that’s when the real wait begins.

Interviews will begin on October 1st and continue until next year, on September 30th. It’s a very long wait for most people. Once you submit DS260, you will wait for your second notification letter from Kentucky consular center which will inform you when your interview will be at the Embassy. Before your interview, you MUST do medical.

The whole process has the following expenses roughly;
1. Medical – 500 USD
2. Interview – 450 USD
3. Flight – 1,000 USD
4. Greencard fee – 300 USD

So it’s about 2,500 USD per person, meaning if you have a wife/husband and, let’s say, two kids, that’s 10,000 USD. You will need money for your passport(s) as well as obtaining some other documents that you could be missing like birth certificates, marriage certificates, certificates of good conduct, and many more, as may be required. The process is expensive but it’s worth every shilling if you succeed and once you land in the US, respect your host.
