Today, Takwa is recognised as a national monument, having been gazetted in 1982. It’s open to the public daily, providing a serene environment for casual visits, picnics, and even overnight camping. To reach the site, visitors must plan their trip around high tide, as access is limited during low tide. Boat trips from Shela typically cost around Ksh 5,000 for up to four people, making it an accessible adventure.
