In this post, we will cover Sibiloi National Park Entrance Fees. Sibiloi National Park is a protected area located in northern Kenya.  It was established in 1973 and covers an area of approximately 1,570 square kilometres. The park is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Turkana, which is the largest desert lake in the world.

The primary purpose of Sibiloi National Park is to conserve and protect the unique wildlife, landscapes, and archaeological sites found in the region. The park is known for its diverse ecosystems, including semi-desert grasslands, volcanic formations, and rocky outcrops. One of the notable features of Sibiloi National Park is the presence of numerous fossil sites. The area is renowned for its rich paleontological discoveries, particularly fossils related to human evolution. It is often referred to as the “Cradle of Mankind” due to the significant discoveries made there.

Koobi Fora, located within Sibiloi National Park, is one of the most important paleontological sites in the world. Numerous fossils of early hominids, including Homo habilis and Homo erectus, have been found there. These discoveries have contributed greatly to our understanding of human evolution. In addition to its paleontological significance, Sibiloi National Park is home to a variety of wildlife. Sibiloi serves as a stopover for migrant waterfowl and is a major breeding ground for the Nile crocodile. Terrestrial wildlife includes zebras, Grant gazelles, lions, leopards, striped hyenas, Beisa Oryx, greater kudu, cheetahs, and northern topi, among others. A total of over 350 species of aquatic and terrestrial birds have been recorded in Lake Turkana.

Due to its remote location and rugged terrain, Sibiloi National Park is not as easily accessible as some other parks in Kenya. However, it offers a unique and rewarding experience for visitors interested in palaeontology, wildlife, and natural beauty. Sibiloi is surrounded by the Turkana, the Gabra, and the Dassanach, who are communities with very rich and unpolluted traditional cultures.
