History and Growth of City Walk
City Walk started operations in 1991 with only one branch at The Mall in Westlands, Nairobi. Driven by the motivation to expand, the Village Market branch was born in 1994. In 1995, a new branch was opened at the Sarova Stanley Hotel along Standard Street. With the development of the Karen residential area, City Walk sought to tap the market potential where the Karen Crossroad branch was opened in 2006.
In 2007, a new branch, The Junction, along Ngong Road, began. 2008 was a year when City Walk was able to open two more branches, one at the Sarova Stanley along Standard Street and the other at The Mall in Westlands. In 2009, the Hilton branch at the Hilton Hotel building on Simba Street along City Hall Way was opened.
In 2010, City Walk’s vision was to grow and extend its branches outside Nairobi. In May 2010, City Walk opened the Kisumu City branch at the Mega City Mall. In December 2011, City Walk opened a branch at Mombasa New Nyali. Its youngest branches currently are at Garden City, which was opened in June 2015, and Adlife Plaza, which was opened in August 2015.
