Rapids Camp is located on Makutano Sagana Road, Riandira, Sagana. Rapids Camp is the ultimate rafting centre and team-building site in Kenya. Its proximity to the city of Nairobi and the Thika Super Highway makes it very easy to access. The Sagana River and Thangazi Village are close to the camp. The camp enjoys a river frontage of about 450 metres and is the largest waterfall in terms of volume in Kenya.
Rapids Camp Sagana Activities
The entrance to the Camp was very unrevealing of the activities that take place there, but once you walk to a wooden bridge just above the waterfalls, a sudden gush of excitement and energy takes over just at the sound of the water below. The white waters sped between the rocky river bed and rolled sharply on the numerous cliffs along its path, which was amazing.
Rapids Camp Sagana Kenya activities include; whitewater rafting, kayaking, river trekking, bungee jumping, bird watching, sport fishing, rock climbing, stargazing, boating, and waterfall challenges, among others. The camp also offers corporate team building, family team building, holiday team building, birthday parties, corporate functions, and end-of-year parties
1. Zipline
Rapids Camp has one of the most amazing zip lines in Kenya, cutting across Rapids Falls. The zipline is 250 m long and has 110 m on top of the river, which makes it unique in Kenya. If you are looking for a zipline with a difference, then don’t look further.
2. White Water Rafting
By far, this is the most popular water sport at Rapids Camp. It’s essentially rafting downstream. When rafters reach points along the river with sharp descents and obstacles, ropes are attached to the raft for them to hold on to. The screams and shouts as unexpected turns appeared around corners added to the amusement. After a group of rafters makes it to the still parts of the river, a proud moment sweeps through the air. They then perform the traditional gesture of lifting their paddles with pride and satisfaction before breaking into victory songs.
3. Waterfall Challenge
The thrill of this challenge is trying to raft behind the raging waterfall. The force of the water as it falls and splashes makes it almost impossible for any raft, no matter how coordinated the team, to get past the splashes. The excitement comes from attempting to go behind the rapid, which is nearly impossible. However, during the dry seasons, when water volumes are low, it is reportedly possible.
4. River Surfing
This is a more chilled activity that entailed a smooth surf on the calmer parts of the river. We recommend river surfing to the less adventurous types who want to just surf and enjoy the lovely scenery of the place.
5. White Water Kayaking
This is a bit different from rafting. The one-man kayaks at Rapids Camp encapsulate you inside a pod as you paddle down the violent river. For some reason, you feel like the kayaks are a bit ‘safer’ than the rafts, but strangely, it is so difficult to stay put inside the pod.
6. Stargazing
Visitors who come to stay at Rapids Camp Sagana are offered the star-gazing activity, as this is a unique outdoor experience. Where tourists explore the universe through the beautiful night skies and in the camp, guests have an experience with more background information on the stars they can see during the night.
7. Bungee Jumping
Rapids Camp Sagana offers visitors bungee jumping activities taking place on the banks of the Tana River. The stage for bungee jumping is a 60-meter-high steel tower, where you climb the pinnacle to bounce off.
